Alliance appoints new CMO, Dr. Mike Wang

We are excited to announce the appointment of our new Chief Medical Officer, Mike Wang, MD!

Dr. Wang joined the Alliance as a medical director in December 2023. He has been proud to work closely with hospital partners and the Alliance’s Information Technology Services team to collect and share real-time clinical data for patients who are seen in the emergency department (ED) and inpatient settings.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Dr. Wang was the first product manager at Commure and served as a director of clinical informatics at Truveta.

Dr. Wang received his BA from Harvard University and was a software developer at athenahealth before going to medical school. He completed his MD at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and an internal medicine residency with Alameda Health System. Additionally, Dr. Wang was a clinical informatics fellow at UCSF and on faculty at the university, where he continues to practice as a hospitalist.

Dr. Wang’s research interests lie at the intersection of clinical excellence, informatics and health equity. His focuses have included studies on how social determinants of health are populated in electronic health records (EHRs), how machine learning models can be practically deployed in clinical settings, and how passively collected data in EHRs can be used to understand and improve care delivery.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Wang to his new role at the Alliance!

Two ways to complete mandatory DEIB training

As shared in the Sept. 24 Digest, DHCS now requires providers to complete a mandatory diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) training.

Providers must complete the training by Dec. 31, 2025. New providers must complete the training within90 днейдаты их начала и снова во времяre-credentialing or contract renewal.

To meet this requirement, the Alliance offers a 90-minute training that you can complete in one of the following formats:

  • Attend one of two live sessions held online via Microsoft Teams.
  • Complete an online training at your own pace.

  • Understand the impact of structural racism, cultural identity and unconscious bias on care delivery.
  • Strengthen communication and relationships through member-centered, culturally sensitive practices.

Critical incident reporting requirements

To protect member safety and ensure compliance with Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), it’s important that Community-Based Adult Services (CBAS) and Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities report Critical Incidents (CIs) to the Alliance and proper authorities.

DHCS requires the Alliance to collect and track CI reports from all CBAS and LTC facilities for D-SNP and Medi-Cal members. This data is submitted to DHCS on a quarterly basis. Please note that reporting CIs for Alliance members to DHCS does not remove the reporting requirement of CIs to the proper authorities.

Examples of CIs

  • Epidemic outbreaks.
  • Poisonings.
  • Fires.
  • Major accidents.
  • Death from unnatural causes or other catastrophes.
  • Unusual occurrences threatening member welfare, safety or health.
  • Suspected or alleged abuse, neglect, exploitation or mistreatment.

Reporting requirements

Notify the Alliance as soon as possible after becoming aware of a CI.

Please use the appropriate incident when reporting to authorities (e.g., CDA 4009 with instructions or SOC 341) and submit a copy to the Alliance by either:

  • Факс: 831-430-5688.
  • Электронная почта:[email protected].

CBAS and LTC facilities must also report CI concerns to:

  • The local law enforcement agency.
  • The LTC Ombudsman.
  • The local health officer.
  • The district office.
