For Black History Month, the Alliance spotlighted programs supporting Black maternal health and all new mothers.
The CDC reports Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related issues that white women. This discrepancy is due to a variety of factors, ranging from unequal health care access to underlying health conditions.
Share these resources with those expecting:
- Doula services: Members can access doula support at no cost before, during and after giving birth. Some doulas can also help during a miscarriage, stillbirth or abortion. Learn more about the doula benefit on our website.
- Care team: Members who are pregnant or have given birth within the last 12 months could get help from our Enhanced Care Management (ECM) program. ECM offers specialized care team to coordinate care for members. Visit our website to learn more.
- Prenatal and postpartum help: The Alliance’s Healthy Moms and Healthy Babies (HMHB) program provides early care, support and education to support healthy pregnancies.
- Rewards program: Pregnant people and new mothers can earn rewards for visiting their doctor through the Alliance. Learn more on our Health Rewards Program page.
