Other Funding Opportunities in the Medi-Cal Delivery System
Funding opportunities are offered to Medi-Cal providers through the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), the Department of Health Care Access and Information, and other external funding sources.
The Alliance is administering the CalAIM Incentive Payment Program (IPP), a DHCS incentive program, to support the development of a robust local Medi-Cal network to address gaps and build infrastructure and capacity for Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports (CS) services.
The Alliance is currently accepting requests for funding for the five counties it serves—Mariposa, Merced, Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz—on an invite-only basis. We are not accepting unsolicited IPP funding proposals from ECM/CS providers.
If you have questions, please email the Alliance at [email protected].
DHCS opened the Providing Access and Transforming Health (PATH) Capacity and Infrastructure Transition, Expansion, and Development (CITED) initiative. This initiative provides funding for ECM and Community Supports capacity and infrastructure to enable community-based organizations, public hospitals, county agencies, tribes and others to successfully participate in Medi-Cal.
DHCS offers the PATH Technical Assistance (TA) Marketplace. The TA Marketplace provides no-cost access to vendors, tools and resources for providers, community-based organizations, counties and others to help implement Enhanced Care Management and Community Supports services, build data capacity and cross-sector partnerships, promote health equity and more. See what resources are available through the TA Marketplace and learn more about applying to receive free services.
The Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) provides grant opportunities for educational institutions that support the education and training of mental health and primary care health professionals. These grants focus on increasing the number of underrepresented students and residents receiving training, thus increasing access to quality care in areas of unmet need.
HCAI also provides grants to organizations that introduce students to health career options through conferences, workshops and health career exploration.
HCAI Program Eligibility Tool
Students, health care professionals and organizations may be eligible to apply for HCAI funding. Use the HCAI funding eligibility tool to see what you/your organization may be eligible to apply for.
Award recipients can be awarded up to $105,000 to repay educational loans in exchange for a three-year service commitment in a medically underserved area of the state. STLRP increases the number of licensed physicians and surgeons providing direct patient care in a qualified facility in California. This award is administered by the California Medical Association.
Visit the California Grants Portal (a project by the California State Library) to find all grants and loans offered on a competitive or first-come basis by California state agencies.
