NEW: Alliance expansion, COVID-19 vaccines and grant application deadlines

The Alliance is expanding to Mariposa and San Benito counties

We are excited to announce that Central California Alliance for Health is expanding to Mariposa and San Benito counties!

Effective January 1, 2024, the Alliance will be a local ally in providing trusted, no-cost Medi-Cal health care to approximately 28,000 new members in these counties.

We are actively recruiting providers in the area to join our network. The Alliance has established offices in Mariposa and San Benito and is engaging with community leaders, health care partners and residents. There is a media campaign planned to get the word out to residents on the transition of care to the Alliance and how to get in touch.

Current Medi-Cal members will automatically transition to the Alliance, and they will be contacted with a welcome packet and information on how to get started as an Alliance member.

We will be sharing more information about county expansion efforts soon. In the meantime, we have published an FAQ page for members that addresses common questions about eligibility, enrollment, getting care and more.

Medi-Cal members can get new COVID-19 vaccines at the pharmacy

As of Sept. 22, 2023, the new commercial COVID-19 vaccines for the Omicron XBB1.5 variant are a covered Medi-Cal Rx benefit. They can be administered at the pharmacy to Alliance members 19 years and older.

Please note that COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months to 18 years old will be covered by the Vaccines for Children program. Find eligible providers at eziz.org. Claims for COVID-19 vaccines for children will be rejected if submitted to Medi-Cal Rx.

Please help protect the community and our Alliance members this season by offering the new COVID-19 vaccines in your practice if applicable, and by encouraging patients to be up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations.

Vaccine reimbursement

Unlike past COVID-19 vaccines, these commercial vaccines are not provided for free by the federal government for Medi-Cal members. Pharmacy providers administering the vaccines can bill Medi-Cal Rx. For providers administering vaccines at their clinic, please bill COVID-19 vaccines and administration fees to Fee-For-Service Medi-Cal.
