Family Planning

Family planning services can help you plan how many children you might add and how much time between each child. These services are provided to members of childbearing age and include some methods of birth control approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

You can get family planning services from:

• Within the Alliance network: Doctors, nurse practitioners, nurse midwives, physician assistants and clinics.
• Outside of the Alliance network: Any family planning practitioner or clinic that takes Medi-Cal insurance. You do not need to get pre-approval from the Alliance.

Family planning services do not include the services you need after you become pregnant. However, the Alliance does offer coverage for pregnancy-related services, education and support for prenatal and postpartum care, such as our Healthy Moms and Healthy Babies program.
