Transportation Coordinator (Temporary)
Location: Merced, California; Salinas, California; Scotts Valley, California
ABOUT THIS TEMP POSITION
This is a temporary position and the length of assignment is always dependent on business need and dates may change. While the assignment would be at the Alliance, if selected, you would be an employee of a temporary employment agency that we would connect you with. This role is remote open to candidates residing in Monterey, Santa Cruz, Merced, Mariposa, or San Benito County.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Coordinating the authorization and documentation processes associated with non-emergency medical transportation and non-medical transportation for eligible Alliance members. Work with members, transportation vendors, provider offices, Alliance staff, County departments and other agencies to ensure effectiveness of transportation service.
Reporting to the Health Services Transportation Supervisor, this position:
- Answering phone calls from vendors, providers, members, and agencies through the department’s Automatic Call Distribution line
- Conducting telephone interviews with members, family members and/or significant others to determine members’ transportation needs
- Verifying member eligibility and requesting member records to validate medical necessity
- Electronically preparing transportation requests and distributing to appropriate team member for review

- Education and Experience:

- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience in health care customer service, such as working as a medical assistant or registrar, which included the performance of general clerical duties (an Associate’s degree may substitute for one year of the required experience); or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying
OTHER DETAILS
- While this position is connected to one of our Alliance offices, we are in hybrid remote/in-office work environment right now and we anticipate that the interview process will take place remotely.
- Our Alliance office locations have officially re-opened as of May 2, 2022 and while some employees may work in full-time telecommute schedules, attendance at quarterly company-wide events or department meetings will be expected.
- Based on the nature of work, this position may require onsite presence, which is dependent on business need. Details about this can be reviewed during the interview process

The actual compensation for this role will be determined by our compensation philosophy, analysis of the selected candidate's qualifications (direct or transferrable experience related to the position, education or training), as well as other factors (internal equity, market factors, and geographic location).
