The California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has introduced a new mandatory Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) training requirement for all Medi-Cal Managed Care network providers and their staff. All network providers and staff must complete the training by December 31, 2025.
We have upcoming training sessions in October and December.
This training is designed to strengthen cultural competency, improve sensitivity and advance health equity to better serve California’s diverse Medi-Cal population.
About the DEIB training
- New Providers: New providers must complete the training within 90 days of their start date and again during re-credentialing or contract renewal.
- Content: The training includes best practices around cultural humility and sensitivity, region-specific member needs, health equity guidelines and strategies to reduce health disparities.
- Oversight: Each health plan’s Health Equity Officer will oversee the program, which aligns with NCQA Health Equity Accreditation standards.
