As of January 1, 2024, a new law in California extends eligibility for full scope Medi-Cal to people ages 26 through 49 who meet all Medi-Cal eligibility criteria. Immigration status does not matter.
New applicants must apply for Medi-Cal online by visiting BenefitsCal.com to find out if they qualify for full scope Medi-Cal as a result of this Adult Expansion. Existing restricted scope Medi-Cal recipients will automatically transition to full scope Medi-Cal and have access to more health care benefits.
If applicants have questions, or if their Medi-Cal application was denied, they should contact their local county office.
