New Doula Services Funding Opportunities

Community Icon

The Alliance is currently offering two funding opportunities to support doula services as a Medi-Cal benefit for prenatal, perinatal and postpartum Medi-Cal members.

Doulas are birth workers who provide:

  • Health education and advocacy.
  • Physical, emotional and non-medical support to pregnant and postpartum persons before, during and after childbirth.
  • Support in the form of health navigation, lactation support, birth plan development and connection to community-based resources.

Doula Recruitment Program

The Doula Recruitment Program provides funding to support the recruitment and first-year costs of doulas who provide services to the Medi-Cal population in the Alliance service areas.

This program awards grants to subsidize 100% of recruitment-related expenses for up to $65,000 for doulas who are new to the Alliance network. Recruits will serve at least 1 Medi-Cal client per month, and/or provide Doula Benefit services for 10 births in the first year under the grant. For more information, please visit the Doula Recruitment Program webpage.

Doula Network Technical Assistance Program

The Doula Network Technical Assistance Program provides funding to independent consultants and community-based organizations who can support doulas in becoming contracted with the Alliance. For more information about the Doula Network Technical Assistance Program, please email [email protected].

The Alliance makes these investments and more to health care and community organizations in Mariposa, Merced, Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties through the Medi-Cal Capacity Grant Program. For more information, please visit http://www.thealliance.health/grants
