The California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) is offering a new funding opportunity to recruit and retain behavioral health practitioners to serve the Medi-Cal population.

Who is eligible for funding?
- Federally qualified health centers (FQHCs).
- Community mental health centers (CMHCs) as defined and certified by the California Department of Public Health.
- Rural health clinics (RHCs).
- Settings with the following payer mix:
- Hospitals with 40% or higher Medicaid and/or uninsured population.
- Rural hospitals with 30% or higher Medicaid and/or uninsured population.
- Other behavioral health settings with 40% or higher Medicaid and/or uninsured population.
What can funding be used for?
There are funding opportunities to support areas including:
- Recruitment and retention bonuses.
- Training, licensing and certifications.
- Supervision hours.
- Backfill costs.
