Deadlines extended for providers seeking relief funding
HHS established the Provider Relief Funds to support healthcare providers in the battle against the COVID-19 outbreak. HHS is distributing $175 billion to hospitals and healthcare providers on the front lines of the coronavirus response.
PHASE 1
HHS is allowing Medicare providers who missed the deadline for additional funding another chance to apply. Of the $50 billion Phase 1 Medicare general distribution funds, an initial $30 billion went to providers who bill for Medicare fee-for-service. This application is for the remaining $20 billion portion. The deadline for this application is Friday, August 28.
PHASE 2
HHS announced a second extension to the application deadline for the Phase 2 general distribution to Medicaid, Medicaid managed care, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and dental providers to apply for payments from the PRF. HHS has allocated $15 billion to this fund, and the new deadline for applications is Friday, August 28.
