Change Healthcare cybersecurity event and impact to provider payments

On February 21, 2024, Central California Alliance for Health (the Alliance) was alerted that Change Healthcare experienced a cybersecurity event. Change Healthcare is our provider payment vendor and a clearinghouse that sends EDI claims and electronic remittance advices (ERAs).

This cybersecurity event has negatively impacted our ability to pay providers promptly. As of the publication of this notice, Change Healthcare has confirmed that their systems are still unavailable, and we are standing by for a time frame for resolution.

To deliver payments to our providers, the Alliance is partnering with Echo Health to send out electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments that will include a remittance advice. We expect payments to be delivered to providers during the week of March 11.

Additionally, if our providers submitted any claims through Change Healthcare after February 20, they have not been received by the Alliance. This means that your payment amount from the Alliance may be impacted until we receive your claims.

We are offering our providers an alternative, interim way to submit claims to the Alliance. If your practice is affected by this cybersecurity incident and you are interested in resuming claims submissions to the Alliance, we encourage you to register with Office Ally.

Office Ally is a health care technology company that offers cloud-based solutions to health care providers, independent physician associations (IPAs) and health plans. Office Ally’s platform is paired with a clearinghouse that enables the secure exchange of health care information including claims, remits and eligibility information between payers and providers across the health care market.

If your practice submits less than 10,000 claims a month and is currently enrolled with Change Healthcare for electronic claims submissions to the Alliance, you can easily enroll with Office Ally and start processing claims immediately. To register for free access to the Office Ally Service Center, please navigate to the Office Ally website and click “Start Today” in the upper right corner of the screen. You may also contact Office Ally customer service at 866-575-4120 or email [email protected]. Our Payer ID is CCA01.

Thank you for your patience. We will keep providers updated as we know more. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Alliance Provider Services Department at 831-430-5504.
