A recent press release by the California Association of Health Plans highlighted the success of managed care plans in addressing health-related social needs during the first year of CalAIM, specifically in the areas of Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports (CS).
ECM/CS programming provides cost-effective alternatives to covered Medi-Cal services while addressing social determinants of health.
The press release noted that “Health plans have stepped up in significant ways and have already taken important actions to help improve the lives of Medi-Cal enrollees.”
Healthy equity is a shared priority between California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and the Alliance (see our Strategic Plan). We are grateful to all our providers and community partners for connecting members with the ECM/CS services they need to live a healthier life.
The release also noted that “transforming the Medi-Cal system is a multi-year effort.” At the Alliance, we are committed to continuing this work into the years ahead to ensure the best possible health outcomes for our members and our service areas. By providing access to ECM/CS services, we are advancing our vision of Healthy People, Healthy Communities.
