The Alliance is honored to announce that our Whole Child Model Family Advisory Committee (WCMFAC) was recognized for World Health Day by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors.

The Whole Child Model Family Advisory Committee (WCMFAC) is made up of parent centers and family members of children with special health care needs. The committee is dedicated to improving services and support for these families across our service region.

World Health Day is recognized on April 7th each year to raise awareness of global health issues and to promote the well-being of individuals and communities. Monterey County Supervisor Wendy Root Askew recognized the WCMFAC for embodying the principles of World Health Day by advocating for equity, accessibility and the overall health and well-being of children with special health care needs.

“Being recognized by the Board of Supervisors was a great way for families like ours to be acknowledged in a way that is not usually possible,” said Janna Espinoza, Chairperson of the WCMFAC. “The work we have been doing for the last 7 years was acknowledged as important, as being of value, which also meant our children were being recognized as important, of being of value. Our voices, and the voices of our children, were given the same amount of space, and respect, in the very room that local policy is being decided and discussed, which I believe shows that the supervisors truly believe that the work we are doing means something.”
