Wellness Resources
One of TotalCare’s goals is to help you live your healthiest life and make it easy for you to get the care you need. That’s why our health education programs give Alliance TotalCare members tools to get healthy and stay healthy. We connect you to wellness resources in our service areas.
We offer many health and wellness education programs that focus on certain health conditions. These include:
- Health education classes through both the Alliance and your TotalCare Silver&Fit benefit.
- Nutrition education classes, through your TotalCare Silver&Fit benefit and the Alliance’s weight management program.
- Quitting smoking and tobacco use.
If you have questions, call the Health Education Line at 800-700-3874, ext. 5580. We offer language assistance services at no cost.
Living with chronic conditions like diabetes, depression or high blood pressure can be hard. Join a Healthier Living Program (HLP) workshop to get support.
The Alliance/TotalCare HLP workshops are health and wellness sessions where you will learn how to manage pain, fatigue, stress, anxiety and sleep loss. You will also learn about healthy eating, staying active, building relationships and improving quality of life.
Here’s what our members are saying about the HLP workshops:
- “It gave me the courage to get my life back on track.”
- “It helped me to learn how to take better care of myself.”
- “What I enjoyed about this workshop is learning I’m not alone.”
- “I liked having a place to come where others share the same questions.”
The Alliance offers the Live Better with Diabetes program (LBD) workshops for members 18 years and older who have diabetes or prediabetes. These workshops are offered in person, virtually and by phone. You will learn how to keep diabetes under control, eat the right foods, be more active and lower stress. Enroll in a Live Better with Diabetes program (LBD) workshop today.
Healthy eating and physical activity can reduce your risk for health problems related to obesity. That’s why the Alliance offers scholarships for members (including TotalCare) to participate in the WeightWatchers program.
During program meetings, you will learn about healthy eating, staying active and creating health and wellness goals. Ask your primary care provider (PCP) if this program is right for you.
Obesity screening and help with weight management
If you have a body mass index of 30 or higher, we pay for counseling to help you lose weight. This must happen in a primary care setting, where your provider can support your full health plan. Talk to your PCP to learn more. That way, it can be coordinated with your overall health plan.
