Dale Bishop, MD | Chief Medical Officer (CMO)

What do you do at the Alliance?

My overall role as CMO is to ensure that quality health care services are available to Alliance members. My duties include providing oversight of medical decisions, care management and quality processes in the Health Services Division, which includes the departments of Utilization Management and Complex Case Management, Quality Improvement and Population Health, Community Care Coordination and Pharmacy. In addition, I am responsible for communicating Health Services Division processes and results to the Alliance Board.

What do you like most about your work at the Alliance?

I most enjoy solving problems to ensure that members are receiving needed care, as well as developing programs and policies that result in improvements in care access and quality of member care.

What’s your favorite local activity/hobby?

My favorite local activity in Santa Cruz is surfing.

Dianna Diallo, MD | Medical Director

What do you do at the Alliance?

My main projects of focus are the Whole Child Model, Care-Based Incentive workgroup, behavioral health and acting as medical consultant to the Community Care Coordination Department. In addition, I participate in our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Steering Committee and am involved in efforts to reduce health disparities.

What do you like most about your work at the Alliance?

Having been an Alliance provider, I understand the challenges faced by many of our members and providers, so my favorite part of my role is to advocate for members and providers.

What’s your favorite local activity/hobby?

When I am not working, I love exercising in nature – hiking, road cycling, mountain biking, ocean swimming and I have recently started outrigger canoeing.

Gordon Arakawa, MD | Medical Director

What do you do at the Alliance?

My role as Medical Director at the Alliance involves medical consultation for the departments of Utilization Management and Complex Case Management, Quality Improvement and Population Health, and Data Analytics Services. Throughout the pandemic, I have served as the COVID-19 medical expert for the organization.

What do you like most about your work at the Alliance?

I enjoy applying medical, public health and data analytics knowledge to improve the health and well-being of Alliance members.

What’s your favorite local activity/hobby?

In my free time, I develop iPhone apps and play the violin.

Thank you, Dr. Bishop, Dr. Diallo and Dr. Arakawa for your contributions and leadership in the Alliance’s mission to provide accessible, quality health care guided by local innovation!
