The Alliance welcomes its new CEO, Michael Schrader

Community Icon

After an extensive nationwide search, Michael Schrader joined the Alliance in April as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Stephanie Sonnenshine, who announced her resignation last year.

Schrader is a familiar and trusted leader in the state’s managed care space. He brings a wealth of experience in Medi-Cal, Medicare and the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), and previously served as CEO for CalOptima and Health Plan of San Joaquin. He’s passionate about improving public health and currently serves on the boards of California Association of Health Plans (CAHP), Local Health Plans of California (LHPC) and Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP).

Like many current Alliance staff, Schrader was drawn to work at our organization because of our people, partnerships and mission. “My desire is to foster an uplifting culture that affords caring and compassionate service for members, which is made possible through collaborations with local providers and community-based organizations,” Schrader said. “I look forward to this continued collaboration as we seek to improve health equity and further a shared vision of healthy people, healthy communities.”
