Help connect families with summer food resources

Community Icon

Summer can be a challenging time for families as children may have fewer opportunities to receive meals through school-based programs. Community partners play an important role in helping individuals and families access food resources and support services in their area.

How you can help

We encourage partners to share information about food resources, including:

  • SUN Bucks: A summer food program that helps eligible families buy groceries for school-aged children.
  • CalFresh: A program that helps individuals and families purchase healthy food.
  • WIC: A nutrition program for eligible women, infants and children up to age 5.
  • Local food banks: Community food banks may offer fresh food and help families apply for CalFresh.
  • 211: Families can call 211 or text their ZIP code to 898211 to find nearby food resources.
  • Alliance Community Supports: Some members may qualify for food support, such as medically tailored meals or meal delivery, if they have a medical need.

Please share the Alliance’s summer food resources for families blog with community members who may benefit from these programs and services.

Together, we can help connect families to nutritious food and support healthier communities across our service area.
