Back-to-school care can’t wait

Community Icon

If you work with families with school-aged children, it’s a great time to remind them to schedule checkups and vaccines before the busy back-to-school season. As families prepare for a new school year, schedules can fill up quickly. Waiting until the last minute to schedule appointments may make it harder to get a convenient appointment before school starts.

Why this matters

Regular checkups help children stay healthy and get the preventive care they need. These visits also give parents and caregivers an opportunity to ask questions about their child’s health, development and well-being.

Staying up to date on recommended vaccines helps protect children from serious illnesses and supports healthier schools and communities.

How you can support

The Alliance’s Care Can’t Wait campaign encourages members to stay connected to care and schedule recommended visits when they are due.

We encourage our partners to remind families to:

  • Schedule appointments before the start of the school year.
  • Make sure children are up to date on recommended vaccines.
  • Ask their child’s doctor any questions they have about their health or development.

Please share these resources with the Medi-Cal families you serve:

Together, we can help children get the care they need and support healthier communities across our service area.
