Flu season is here again. The best way to protect yourself is to get your flu vaccine.

The flu can make you very sick. It can cause fever, sore throat, cough and body aches. For some people, it can lead to serious illness or even a hospital stay. The flu shot helps lower your risk of getting sick and helps protect your family and friends too.

Why you should get your flu vaccine

The flu vaccine changes each year to fight new types of flu. Getting the vaccine every year gives you the best protection. It takes about two weeks to start working, so getting it early is best.

How to get your flu vaccine

Alliance members can get a flu vaccine at no cost. Bring your Alliance Member ID card when you go.

You can:

  • Get a flu vaccine from your doctor.
  • Go to a local pharmacy.
  • Visit your county health department.

Children and teens under 19 should get their vaccine from their pediatrician. Some younger children may need two doses for the best protection.
