Indigenous Interpreter Services Update

Provider Icon

In April 2022, the Alliance announced that our indigenous interpreting vendor would no longer be providing interpreting services as of May 1, 2022. Since then, the Alliance has worked diligently to find and bring onboard a new indigenous interpreter vendor.

As of early June 2022, we are proud to share that we have partnered with a new indigenous interpreter vendor to help meet the linguistic needs of our indigenous speaking community.

Alliance providers may now access our telephonic and in-person (face-to-face) indigenous interpreter services when interacting with our members.

Who is Our New Indigenous Interpreter Vendor?

The Alliance is excited to announce that we have partnered with Centro Binacional para el Desarrollo Indígena Oaxaqueño (CBDIO) to provide quality and qualified indigenous interpreting services for both telephonic and in-person (face-to-face).

CBDIO is a non-profit organization that has been serving the indigenous communities from the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, since 1993.  And one of their offices resides in the heart of Monterey County, one of our service areas. CBDIO will provide services in all Alliance services areas (Santa Cruz, Monterey and Merced counites).

Their vision is to “achieve the well-being, equality and self-determination of the indigenous communities”; which aligns with the Alliance’s vision statement, “Healthy people. Healthy communities”.

Together, the Alliance and CBDIO will collaborate to ensure the linguistic needs of our indigenous speaking community are met.
