Applications are open for the Community Health Worker (CHW) certification program offered by Monterey County Works. This training program is offered at no cost! The deadline to apply is Feb. 20.

Apply online or in person at the Monterey County Works Career Center (344 Salinas St, Ste 203, Salinas, CA 93901. Hours are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.).
Applicants will need to attend an informational session and a 30-minute interview.
Class schedule
Thursday, March 19 through Saturday, August 29, 2026
- Online classes are held one evening per week from 6 to 9 p.m. and on select Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- The 5-week internship runs July 13-August 15, 2026.

How CHWs serve Alliance members
The Alliance partners with community organizations to provide the Community Health Worker benefit for Medi-Cal members. CHWs provide members with health education, health navigation, individual support and advocacy, and screenings and assessments that do not require a license. Organizations that are contracted and credentialed with the Alliance can receive reimbursement at up to 150% of Medi-Cal rates for services.
