Scotts Valley, Calif., January 5, 2022 — The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has recognized Central California Alliance for Health (the Alliance) with a Consumer Satisfaction Award for going above and beyond in children’s care for medium-sized health plans in 2021.
New this year, the award is based on the Alliance’s high scores in the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey, which collected feedback from nearly 400 Alliance members. Conducted by DHCS, the survey measures member satisfaction in areas such as provider communication, customer service, and access to timely and needed care.
Several Alliance staff members from the Quality Improvement & Population Health Department were present to virtually receive the award at the 2021 DHCS Quality Conference late last year.
“One of the Alliance’s core values is improvement, which we define as the continuous pursuit of quality through learning and growth,” said Dr. Dale Bishop, chief medical officer at the Alliance. “This prestigious award represents our continued commitment to improve, and we are thus greatly honored to be recognized for our efforts to better serve our members and our community.”
Nearly half of all Alliance members are children under the age of 18 years old. In fact, more than 170,000 children across Merced, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties receive care through the regionally managed Medi-Cal health care plan.
In addition to being recognized for member satisfaction, the Alliance has a high satisfaction rating among contracted providers. Nearly 90 percent of providers surveyed in 2021 expressed high satisfaction with the Alliance, and nearly 99 percent would recommend the Alliance to other providers.
“This award reflects the work of Alliance staff to support our members as they navigated the pandemic. However, these strides are made possible in large part by strong provider partnerships.
