Scotts Valley, Calif., Oct. 25, 2022 — Central California Alliance for Health (the Alliance) is pleased to announce Jenifer Mandella as the Alliance’s first Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). In this executive level role, Mandella will oversee a newly developed Compliance Division, which will support the Alliance’s implementation of California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM), as well as its approach to management of legal services.
Mandella joined the Alliance in 2010 as Compliance Specialist and advanced to progressive roles as Compliance Manager, Compliance Director and most recently, Compliance Officer. In her 12 years at the Alliance, Mandella developed the Alliance’s Compliance Program and oversaw its legal affairs function. Prior to joining the Alliance, Mandella served as a Harm Reduction Outreach Worker for the Santa Cruz AIDS Project and as a Foundation Executive, managing the day-to-day operations of five philanthropic foundations.
“As Chief Compliance Officer, Jenifer will ensure the Alliance’s successful compliance with today’s health care regulatory requirements, effectively assessing and managing current risk while also strategically and proactively preparing for tomorrow’s requirements,” said Alliance CEO, Stephanie Sonnenshine. “I’m enthusiastic about what Jenifer will bring to this expanded leadership role.”
Mandella has a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and a Master’s in Public Policy from the University of California, Los Angeles.
“Our shift to a Compliance Division centralizes the work we do to implement requirements, from assessment and implementation all the way through monitoring compliance,” said Mandella. “A strategic focus on compliance and legal risk management adds value for our members, providers and the organization.”
The Alliance is actively recruiting to fill the role of Compliance Director and Legal Services Director, both of which will report to Mandella.
