Stay vigilant on COVID-19: new variant and current guidelines

Although there is public fatigue around COVID-19 precautions, it is critical that we continue taking intentional measures to prevent the spread of the virus and protect the health of our communities.

The CDC urges children and adults to stay up to date with vaccines. Everyone 6 months and older can get vaccinated against COVID-19. Everyone 5 years and older can get a COVID-19 booster. Boosters are especially important for those who are over 50 years old and those who are 12 and older who are immunocompromised.

As the school year approaches, it’s a good idea for children to get vaccinated to prevent them from getting sick from their classmates. Kids can get their COVID-19 vaccination at the same time as other routine immunizations at their doctor’s office.

Those who have had COVID-19 already may get reinfected, so it is also important for these individuals to keep up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations.

Additional precautions include wearing a well-fitting mask and getting tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms or come into close contact with someone who has COVID-19. At participating Test to Treat locations, individuals can get tested for COVID-19 and receive treatment at the same location if they test positive.
