Medi-Cal extends to those ages 50+
As of May 1, 2022, the Older Adult Expansion extends eligibility for full scope Medi-Cal to all people 50 years of age or older who meet all Medi-Cal eligibility criteria. Immigration status does not matter.
New applicants must apply with their local county office to find out if they qualify for full scope Medi-Cal as a result of the Older Adult Expansion. Existing Medi-Cal beneficiaries will be automatically transitioned to full scope eligibility and have access to more health care benefits.
Upcoming changes to asset limits
On July 1, 2022, the asset limit for Medi-Cal programs for people who are 65 or older or disabled is increasing. These increases will let people have or save more money or other property and qualify for Medi-Cal.
