California provides college savings for low-income children, teens

The State of California is offering money for children and teens to start saving for college. Children can get up to $1,500 from the state in a college savings account. The program is called CalKIDS.  

To get a CalKIDS savings account, children must be: 

  • Born in California on or after July 1, 2022; or 
  • An eligible low-income public school student in grades 1-12 in California.
