Childhood Immunization Status (CIS) Measure Shift

Provider Icon

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) recently notified the Alliance of new measures that the plan is required to report for 2020. As a result, there will be a shift in the number of vaccines required for compliance in 2020 for children turning 2 years in reporting for HEDIS and CBI. The HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) Childhood Immunization Status (CIS Combo 10) measure will be required to be reported instead of Combo 3. (This measure is known as Immunizations: Children (Combo3) in the 2019 CBI Program).

The new measure includes the addition of three vaccines: Hepatitis A, Rotavirus and Influenza. Completing each vaccine series by the child’s second birthday is still a requirement; refer to the table below for the number of required doses. To be successful in this measure, we recommend ensuring children are on schedule by the time they turn 18 months.

For providers who are considered Health Center Grantees via the HRSA Health Center Program, The CIS Combo 10 measure aligns with the Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting requirements for child immunizations.
